The ISD Chip is easy to use, once it is set up. It allows you to record sound into 90 minutes worth of space on the chip. You can attach a regular chip to the ISD2590 in order to control the playback. It allows you to record over previous tracks, as well. The process of wiring up the board is a separate issue altogether. This takes some time and patience, as the schematic is somewhat complex. See below. (One thing to remember is that the pins are not drawn in the order they appear. They must be read according to the number, not the placement on the image.)

 

Playback and record functions are controlled by the push buttons, connected to pins 23 (CE) & 24 (PD.) Pin 27 (PR) is moved from one side to another depending on whether you want to record or playback. The diagram of instructions for using these buttons is shown below.
